Strengthening Support for Georgia’s European Path in Austria

As part of its ongoing mission to promote understanding of European values and counter disinformation, the EU Awareness Centre continues to build bridges between European societies and countries aspiring to join the EU.
On 10 November 2025, the Centre organised a meeting in Vienna that brought together representatives of the Georgian community in Austria and Austrian friends of Georgia, both of whom share a commitment to strengthening awareness and support for Georgia’s European aspirations.
The discussion focused on how to better inform the broader Austrian public about developments in Georgia and the ongoing efforts of Georgian society to bring the country closer to the European Union. Participants explored a range of possible areas for cooperation, including organising joint events and public discussions, facilitating the publication of articles and interviews in Austrian media, holding academic roundtables on European integration, promoting Georgian culture and art in Austria, and engaging youth and student groups in European-themed projects.
A special guest of the event was Rainhard Klouček, President of the Pan-European Movement Austria. The meeting took place at the Versatorium Vienna - a centre for writers and translators, hosted by its director, Austrian writer Peter Waterhouse.
This initiative marks another step in fostering a deeper understanding of Georgia’s European path and strengthening cooperation between Georgian and Austrian civil society. It reflects the EU Awareness Centre’s core vision — “Knowledge Against Manipulation” — and its commitment to supporting informed, democratic dialogue across Europe.
