EUAC Fellows Support Launch of Revived Information Centre on NATO and EU in Georgia
EUAC Fellows Tornike Parulava and Olga Spirandi participated in the official opening of the newly established Information Centre on NATO and EU in the historic city of Kutaisi. Their participation underscores a continued dedication to raising awareness about NATO and Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration, with a specific focus on debunking disinformation narratives spread by anti-Western propaganda.
The inauguration ceremony symbolically coincided with the two-year anniversary of Georgia being granted EU candidate status. Central to the event were two panel discussions that brought together the expert community, academics, and experienced specialists on NATO and EU matters, alongside representatives of diplomatic missions, journalists, and the general public.
EUAC Senior Fellow Mr. Parulava participated in the panel titled "NATO - Challenges for Georgia." During the discussion, he elaborated on Georgia’s progress on its Euro-Atlantic path and the obstacles stemming from anti-Western propaganda. He specifically highlighted how these narratives deliberately inject the topic of neutrality into public discourse, framing it as a misleading alternative to the country’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
Attendees were addressed by Ms. Marika Vacharadze, the former head of the Imereti regional office of the previously dissolved Information Center on NATO and EU, which had operated for nearly 20 years as a governmental entity. Ms. Vacharadze has not only revived the Center as an NGO under the same name but has successfully gathered professionals dedicated to advancing Georgia’s Western integration.
