Amb. Gocha Javakhishvili

Amb. Gocha Javakhishvili is a Georgian diplomat and academic with over thirty years of senior-level experience in diplomacy, international relations, francophonie, and higher education. A recognized specialist on the South Caucasus, European geopolitics, and multilateral cooperation, he has held numerous high-ranking positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
He served as Ambassador of Georgia to France and Monaco, as well as Permanent Representative to UNESCO, the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie, the OECD, and the Bureau International des Expositions. In these capacities, he played an active role in strengthening Franco-Georgian relations, promoting francophonie, and advancing Georgia’s European integration.
Alongside his diplomatic career, he served as Adviser at the Chancellery of the President of Georgia, responsible for diplomatic coordination and relations with European and international institutions, and as a researcher at the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Gocha Javakhishvili holds a PhD and is a Professor Emeritus. He has taught at several Georgian and French universities and currently directs the Centre for French Language and Culture at Gori State University. A literary and legal translator, he has produced major translations of key European works and foundational texts.
He is a recipient of the French National Order of Merit and the Order of Academic Palms. He continues his professional activities in the fields of consultancy, teaching, and international cooperation.
