Ilan Dascencao is an intern at the EU Awareness Centre in Brussels, where he is responsible for producing written content, managing communications, and developing partnerships. He holds a Bachelor's degree in European and International Relations from Sciences Po Saint-Germain-en-Laye. During his final year, he studied at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) through an Erasmus exchange, specialising in the institutional and communicative dimensions of European integration. He is currently undertaking a gap year to broaden his professional experience in European affairs before pursuing a Master's degree. Throughout his gap year, Ilan has focused on the interface between institutional policy and civil society. Alongside his work with the Centre, he serves as Manager of International and European Projects at the Maison d'Europe des Landes. Previously, he held a six-month position at a public affairs consultancy, working at the intersection of health science and policymaking. He also completed an internship within the Citizenship Department of the Town Hall of Champs-sur-Marne, which gave him a foundational understanding of local governance and civic engagement. Ilan's work is driven by an interest in democratic legitimacy and the mechanisms through which EU institutions can build transparent connections with the people they serve. He is fluent in French and English, has conversational proficiency in Spanish, and a basic command of Russian.
