Mariam Aliashvili

Mariam Aliashvili is an Intern at the EU Awareness Centre. She holds a Master’s degree in European Affairs from Lund University and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Tbilisi State University. Mariam gained hands-on experience in investigative research on corruption at Transparency International Georgia, which deepened her commitment to democratic institutions and the rule of law. She also conducted academic research at Ghent University’s research centre, focusing on the European Union’s connectivity policy toward the South Caucasus. Her key areas of interest include the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy, enlargement policy – particularly in the Eastern Neighbourhood – and the EU’s growing security role in the region, along with transatlantic relations in this context. In her master’s thesis, Mariam investigated the rapidly expanding capabilities of the EU to build resilience and support its neighbours against Russian hybrid threats and FIMI. Building on this work, she remains dedicated to researching information manipulation and its impact on European political stability. She speaks fluent Georgian and English, has intermediate proficiency in Russian, and basic knowledge of French.
