Commemoration of the 9 April Tragedy

Today, we commemorate the tragic events of 9 April 1989, in Tbilisi, where peaceful demonstrators advocating for Georgia’s independence were brutally attacked by Soviet/Russian troops. We honor the memory of those 21 who lost their lives and remember their courage, which eventually led Georgia to declare independence on the same day two years later. Let us build upon their legacy towards a strong and democratic Georgia.
